Aug 01   Yoga Nidra, Somatics, Meditation Class

A way to "work in" vs. work out.
Join others who want to develop or advance a meditation practice in this group setting. We’ll begin with somatics, a gentle form of yoga done primarily in a reclined position that promotes sensory awareness and freedom of movement and prepares the Self for further inner work. We’ll then experience Yoga Nidra, an ancient practice from the yoga tradition. Yoga Nidra, or “yogic sleep,” is an effortless state of being, experienced in a reclined position, that invites complete physical, mental and emotional  relaxation. With its many profound benefits, we will use it to further deepen our practice. Class will include Nada yoga, using crystal singing bowls, gong baths and other sound/music designed to unify.  Seated breathing exercises and an extended session of meditation conclude the class.

Sep 17   Healing the Heart ~ Addiction Recovery Workshop and Referral
Our Savior Lutheran in Grafton invites everyone to our third annual "Healing the Heart" Workshop on Saturday, September 17 from 8:00 am to 11:30am.
There's so much hurt in today's world without the comfort and strength offered by God in his Word.  That is especially needed for individuals and families that live through the ongoing challenge of addiction. Counselor Mical Schaffer is our keynote speaker, a graduate of WLC and has his Masters from UWM.  He and his wife have three children and have fostered 11 high needs children.  He focuses on patients with substance abuse issues, most often teens. Pastor Paul Kelm, who has served as pastor, campus pastor, church consultant and currently preaches at Our Savior in Grafton, will set the tone and mood.   Pastor Wagner, who has counseled and cared for many with great loss, will host and direct a panel discussion tapping into the experience of Officer David Podewils from the  Grafton Police force, therapist Holly Schneider and a husband / wife who have learned to survive and thrive.
Music for reflection will be provided by Joey Schumann and the Lutheran Ceili Orchestra throughout the morning.  Joey, who is family physician with Affinity Medical Group in Appleton, plays Uilleann Bagpipes, Tinwhistle, Keyboards, Duduk and Violin.  Rebekah Brunoehler will join him on the Fiddle, her husband Jake on drums.  Andrew Ruh on acoustic guitar, Kirsten Probst & Martha Johnson as vocalists and with Emily Warnke on harp. Celtic music holds attention through joyful rhythm and happy tunes.  Yet it calls in hauntingly beautiful motifs to the soul:  come and worship the Trinity!  Much of the music for this service has been recorded and is available on their recent CD.
Guests from the community are invited.  A continental breakfast will be provided along with complementary refreshments throughout the morning.  There is no cost except a free will offering to offset expenses for the musicians.  Follow up through prayer, referral, and Support Group opportunities will also be shared.   Register online at OurSaviorGrafton.org.  For further information call 262-377-6363 or email

Oct 12 - Oct 14   Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminar: The Upper Body

One of three entry points into the Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminars: The Upper Body begins at the core, teaching you a simple but very effective means of connecting your findings with your client’s pain or dysfunction. Using a well-defined Feedback Loop, the Foundations Approach makes treatment quite simple. Therapists who have taken seminars through the Foundations Seminars Approach have reported that they learned effective interventions quickly and easily and are able to integrate the newly learned concepts immediately. Even those therapists with previous experience in myofascial release (MFR) trainings find value in the Foundations Approach, not only to learn different approaches/techniques, but through learning ways to use this effective modality. After learning a core understanding of nervous system and soft tissue change, the application of treatment flows smoothly. Autonomic nervous system engagement, cutaneous nerve/skin-based approaches, as well as the more traditional “fascial approaches” to pain relief will all be addressed in an easy to understand fashion. Having a deeper model of understanding of the explanations behind this work makes for a much more effective therapist.

The Upper Body Seminar includes valuable evaluative and treatment perspectives on the arms, shoulders, thorax, neck, and head regions. But more than just a collection of techniques, you will learn how to apply these concepts anywhere in the body, with nuanced variations in stretch direction and style that allows you to further engage your patient in the process and alleviate their pain or symptoms.

Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminars are designed for both beginner and experienced therapists. Massage therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech language pathologists will all find value in these fast paced and enjoyable hands-on classes. Using an easy to follow approach, Foundations Seminars will build the confidence of a beginner to start using this valuable modality from the first day. Those who have taken other myofascial release seminars will find fresh a fresh approach to evaluation and treatment. Integrating a nervous system based approach creates entirely new openings for the therapist to follow. Pain which was previously explained in a nebulous manner, taking into account the supposed far-reaching effects of the fascial system can now be explained in a plausible fashion using simple neuroanatomy and neuroscience. While many therapists may prefer to continue on the fringe of acceptance, many more are reaching for credibility. Foundations Seminars supports you!

The Upper Body Seminar is 20 hours/2.5-days.

Prerequisite: LMT,PT, PTA, OTR, and other licensed healthcare providers

NCBTMB 20 CE Hours. Approval for SLP’s, PT’s, PTA’s, OTR’s, and COTA’s varies on a state-by-state basis. Please inquire for specific approval for these and other professions, as many will have been previously approved.

The Foundations Approach is a simple one; connect with your patient’s pain and create change. This need not be made more difficult that it is. The principles you will learn in the Foundations Approach Seminars are easily applicable to most of your existing training as well. After over two and a half decades in this field, Walt Fritz has created a very simple approach to dealing with pain. Please consider joining him for this Upper Body Seminar.
