Aug 01 - Aug 02   46th Annual Architectural Treasures Tour
The Cedarburg Cultural Center is proud to present the 46th annual Architectural Treasures Tour on Saturday, August 1 & 2, 2015. This year's tour features five properties that reflect a deep appreciation for history and craftsmanship. Featured properties include: One of Cedarburg's original farmsteads - an 1855 stone home nestled in a private setting within a Cedarburg subdivision. Original beams and Arts and Crafts details are special features of this cozy family home. A charming 1870s Stick Victorian carefully renovated to reflect its rich history. The original post and beam structure once housed multiple families. Colors and architectural details express the history and craftsmanship of the era. A stately Georgian-style home built in the mid-1990s. Construction of the home was based on Eleutherian Mills, the original DuPont family home built in 1803 in Delaware. The interior reflects the owner's strong interest in history and extensive travels. The unique second-story, loft-style apartment that evokes the historic feel of the MKB Building's exterior based upon the original stone Bohrtz-Krueger Blacksmith Shop (circa 1848) that once stood on a prominent corner in downtown Cedarburg. A step back in time to the era of 1848-1857 rural life in the historically noteworthy Greek Revival-style home now known as the Jonathan Clark House Museum. Sally Ward, of Shorewest REALTORS®, is the presenting sponsor of the 2015 Architectural Treasures Tour.

Aug 13   Jim Cryns Book Signing
The Grafton Public Library is pleased to host a book signing for local author Jim Cryns. His new anthology, Bench Jockey, features articles written for and published by the Milwaukee Brewers over the course of twenty-plus years. The majority of the articles feature the people behind the scenes that you rarely hear about. You will hear about older players who went into different fields such as major film producers, a preacher, and a scientist. Join Jim as he answers questions and get your own signed copy. Jim Cryns is an incredible storyteller. He asks the right questions and listens to the answers. I?ve known Jim for nearly 20 years and his ability to find the really incredible tale no one else does is rare. And that?s why Bench Jockey is great. Anyone can tell the story of the superstar. Aug 22   Riveredge Nature Center FREE Day of Family Fun
Riveredge Nature Center is delighted to be a part of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation?s August Gift to the Community. Along with our friends and partners at other environmental education organizations in the area, the Foundation?s Gift will allow us to celebrate the wonders of the natural world and the importance and fun of getting outdoors through a free day of special programs and activities. On August 22nd from 9 AM to 5 PM, join Riveredge for a FREE day of: - Recreational tree climbing (9:30 AM- 4:30 PM): swing from the trees with harnesses and trained facilitators. To ensure safety and enough time in the trees, we must limit the amount of climbers at one time. For this reason, you will need to register in advance and tree climbing spots must be signed up for online ahead of the event. We have ten spots for each half hour session of the day, starting at 9:30 AM. All climbs are totally free, but you will need to register at our website. Minimum age for tree climbing is 7 years old. - River exploration on Trailblazer Island: wade across the Milwaukee River with a staff member and explore the different natural play areas on our magical Trailblazer Island- a favorite spot of our summer campers. - Geocaching: A cross between treasure hunting and orienteering, geocaching has become a popular way to explore new places and have fun outdoors. Whether you're a geocaching novice or expert, see if you can hunt down our caches! - Lake sturgeon rearing at the streamside rearing facility: See the sturgeon we've been rearing for our efforts to reintroduce them to the Milwaukee River and learn more about this awesome prehistoric fish. - Good Ol' Relaxin' at our new Hammock Village: yep, really, a village of hammocks. - Tile painting at the outdoor classroom: paint a tile for display at the Silo mural in our Children's Natural Play Area - 4th Grader Free Family Membership Sign-up: Riveredge is excited to offer a new program providing all fourth graders and their families a free family membership to our center. Keep the nature exploration and adventure going all year long. - Fairy & gnome house building - Little tots scavenger hunt - Geology "Dig" at Andy's Climbing Rocks - Cultural activity at the Teepee

Prakasha Yoga, A Hatha-Soma Style (offering both private and group) This class combines yoga- the eastern practice of uniting mind, body and spirit through meditation, breathing and classical asanas, with somatics. Experience classical yoga poses, breathing and meditation techniques. Build strength, balance and flexibility on a new level. This practice is designed to balance and tone the body, focus the mind and recharge the spirit.   All experience levels are welcomed and honored as modifications will be presented. Students are guided to practice mindfully and within his/her capacity.

Somatics (offering both private and group)
“Somatics is a holistic and interdisciplinary approach that connects body sciences, and movement to help each person understand more about his or her body/mind and move toward greater integration.” This gentle movement modality, focused on releasing habitual muscle contraction, is designed to foster an internal sensory awareness to re-educate the body, releasing tension and promoting freedom of movement.

Private Reiki Sessions
Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation technique from Japan that can also promote healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us through a "laying of the hands." Reiki treats the whole person leaving them feeling relaxed, peaceful, secure and with a feeling of well being. $55 per session

Private  Thai Yoga
Thai Yoga is a dynamic bodywork therapy based on yoga and Ayurveda that was born in the temples of Thailand. The practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the body's energy lines and pressure points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically. Thai yoga is performed on a comfortable thick cushion on the floor. Both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement. $55 per session

Group Thai-Yoga Class Experience this special form of yoga that infuses restorative yoga poses and breathing with Thai yoga techniques. Designed to improve posture, flexibility, digestion and circulation, this restorative class will reduce both physical and emotional tension while working to remove blocked energy and provide a new found freedom in mind, body and breath. With the benefit of two qualified instructors during one class, you will move into asanas and then receive hands-on adjustments that feel as relaxing as a massage. Craniosacral and Reiki therapies will be offered during the class to give you the feeling of complete relaxation. Instructors: Julie Prochnow (Cyga Grafton,) and Sheri Bestor (Balancing Arts Studio)

Firefly Yoga  This Preschool Parent Yoga class is a wonderful way to spend quality time with your child. We will joyfully explore the art of yoga through story, music, and movement.
