Mar 08   Model Train Show & Swap Meet
MODEL TRAIN SHOW MARCH 8TH CEDARBURG, WI METRO Model Railroad Club's 20TH annual railroad show and swap meet on Sunday, March 8th at Circle B Recreation on Highway in Cedarburg will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Show Chairman Jim Bartelt said the club is constantly striving to make the show fresh and to show the public the interesting things that are happening in the world of model trains. METRO will be bringing back its own HO layout that has twice been judged best in the nation at the National Train Show. One of the most highly detailed layouts ever built and now freshened up after many years of display, it has many animations and numerous (and humorous) details designed to delight children of all ages. The Lakeshore O-Scale Railroaders will again be bringing a Lionel layout to the show and permitting anyone to run the trains. Kids can also fire missiles from train cars, unload barrels and milk cans, and enjoy seeing in small scale some of their favorite movie and TV characters. The Kettle Moraine Ballast Scorchers club of West Bend, WI will bring their popular N scale layout. It features various scenes of small town America with large numbers of vehicles and various eye catching scenes such as a train derailment, a train watching park, and interesting industries served by railroads. Other returnees include the Badgerland S Gaugers showing the classic American Flyer scale trains as well as new S-scale trains that are currently available. The WIZ KidZ, who will be bringing Z scale trains. These are models so small that a layout can be built in a cigar box. The West Bend, Jackson and Southern will be showing examples #1 scale trains, which are trains large enough to actually ride on and will be giving train rides indoors. In addition, more than 50 tables of dealers and swappers will be on hand to buy, sell and trade model railroad equipment, both new and used. Some notable dealers are Jerry Krug of the C&NWHS, Sandy's Trains, Hobby Junction and the Great Train Store, as well as many other dealers will be on hand to buy, sell and trade model railroad equipment, both new and used. The many club members and dealers on hand will be able to help modelers young and old with layout design, problem solving, and scenic hints. Attendees can sign up for door prizes which include railroading books and one year subscriptions to Kalmbach Publishing?s magazine Model Railroader as well as Model Train Cars from ExactRail. This is the 20th consecutive year for the show, which has become the largest in southeast Wisconsin after Milwaukee?s TrainFest. Membership in all of the clubs showing is open; attendees can talk to club members at the show for membership details. METRO can also be found on the web at www.metrorrclub.org. Admission is by a $3 donation for adults; as always, children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Commercial sponsors of this year?s show include Kalmbach Publishing, ExactRail, Dr. Daniel Witkowski DDS Gentle Family Dentistry and Tires Unlimited Automotive Services. Mar 21   Samantha Fish Concert
Blues in the 'Burg Concert Series SAMANTHA FISH Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 7:30pm
Doors open at 6:45pm
Take cover: there's a storm coming. With lyrical thunderbolts, lightning-flash fretwork and ground-shaking grooves, Samantha Fish is going to blow the roof off the CCC with her modern rocking sound. With Samantha's name buzzing on the blues scene and the iron hot, she is touring the world to share her searing lead guitar style. Samantha is classified as a blues artist, but she crosses musical borders while expressing soulful elements of Americana, rock, country and roots. Finding inspiration from fallen '80s heroes like Stevie Ray Vaughan, right back to the pre-war Delta masters. 'I fell in love with it,' she told Premier Guitar of her growing passion for the form, 'and started doing my homework by listening to the old guys like Son House and Skip James.' Soon enough, appreciation for the blues had spilled over into application, and by the age of 18, she broke into a dues-paying period on the jam circuit: an apprenticeship at the sharp end that tightened her musical chops, polished her stagecraft and gave her the grit to overcome occasional skepticism about her age, hair tone and gender. ?I always hated the idea of the gimmick,? she told Premier Guitar. 'People come out just because you are a girl, but then you have so much more to prove once you get them in the door.' Only in her mid-20s, Samantha displays an impressive knowledge of and respect for music of yore and has the skills and polish to ensure a lively performance for all ages. Samantha received the prestigious Blues Music Award (BMA) for 'Best New Artist Debut' in 2012. Her set list includes molten and grimy originals, from her latest album, 'Black Wind Howlin' along with a few covers from artists Steve Miller, John Hiatt, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, R.L. Burnside, Tom Waits and Charley Patton . This is the sound of an artist on the brink of the big-time with both hands on the wheel.
