The Cedarburg Cultural Center (CCC) is proud to host two upcoming exhibits in its galleries, featuring local artists Nora Boedeker and Kitty Sturrock, and the Wisconsin Visual Artists Southeast Chapter.

The East Gallery will host a two-person exhibit, featuring paintings by local artists Nora Boedeker and Kitty Sturrock. Boedeker is a naturalistic oil painter from Glendale whose work is inspired by the plant models she creates for the Milwaukee Public Museum. A diversity of plant forms, colors, textures and shapes are seen in her paintings. Nora's award-winning larger-than-life paintings have been shown throughout the Midwest in both group and solo shows and have been described by the Shepherd Express newspaper as "breathtaking." In addition, she has taught classes and workshops for both adults and children. Nora continues to do freelance museum work and work as a member of the exhibits staff of the Milwaukee Public Museum. http://noraboedeker.com

Mequon resident Sturrock creates dramatic and vivid watercolors and is known for her floral still-life paintings. Her work has earned her a place in select art exhibits, numerous awards and is now in the Racine Art Museum's permanent collection. Her paintings are original in concept and have a strong sense of color and composition. She believes in using bold color to capture the vibrancy she sees in the flowers that bloom during Wisconsin's short summers. Color is beautiful and I like to use it, she said. Color makes people happy. http://kittysturrock.com Concurrently featured in the CCC's Columbia St. Mary's and Center Galleries are works by members of the Wisconsin Visual Artists Southeast Chapter. May 23   Nora Boedeker & Kitty Sturrock & Wisconsin Visul Artists Exhibit

As the oldest art organization in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Visual Artists (WVA) is a not-for-profit membership-based organization made up of visual artists working in a wide variety of media and supporters of Wisconsin art. Its purpose is to promote, develop and encourage the creative visual arts in Wisconsin, and to showcase some of the best contemporary art in Wisconsin.
