Apr 02   Blueburg Cafe Open Mic Night
First Wednesday of Every Month The Blueburg Café offers ?Plug and Play? Open Mic nights on the first Wednesday of each month, showcasing musicians, singers, poets, dancers, comedians, filmmakers and story-tellers. Amplification and microphones are provided. There is no cover charge, and all ages are welcome! Open Mic starts at 7:00 pm and continues until approximately 9:00 pm. Doors open and sign-up begins at 6:15 pm. Performers are encouraged to sign up before 6:40 pm as slots fill quickly. Performers appear on stage on a first-come, first on-stage basis, with management reserving the right to move performances to best showcase the talent. Each performer will have approximately 5 minutes on the stage. Filmmakers must call in advance to ensure proper equipment is available. The Café?s full bar offers drink specials, beer, wine, soft drinks including Sprecher soda, and snacks. Complimentary coffee is provided courtesy of Starbucks® of Cedarburg. The group will talk about the book 'The Red Tent' by Anita Diamant. In a story based on the Book of Genesis, Jacob's only daughter, Dinah, shares her unique perspective on the origins of many of our modern religious practices and sexual politics, eager to impart the lessons in endurance and humanity she has learned from her father's wives. Looking for a new way to enjoy a Milwaukee Fish Fry? Shully's Cuisine & Events is hosting a one-of-a-kind, non-traditional "fish fry" experience. On Friday, April 18th (Good Friday) Shully's opens their doors to the public for a "Flight Night". Shully's chefs have teamed up to prepare a meatless multi-course fish and seafood dinner paired with hand-crafted, artisanal beers. Join us for a special egg hunt event! Each child will make his/her own egg hunt bag, then venture out to search high and low for hidden eggs. Prizes will be awarded to all participants. After the hunt, discover the wonders of Wisconsin's egg-laying animals and color eggs using natural dyes. This event will appeal to the whole family. Join the Riveredge staff for the eleventh annual Earth Day Work and Learn in activities that promote the health of our community and planet. Prepare the beds and plant cool weather crops in the organic garden, work as a Habitat Healer and conduct grounds clean-up and invasive species eradication, spruce up our trails by trimming and chipping them, or split and stack wood for our maple sugarin' programs. Some indoor activities are also planned. A spaghetti lunch will be served at noon. After the work is done, join Senior Naturalist, Mandie Zopp, for a presentation on bats and the bat monitoring project. There are opportunities for groups, families and individuals of all ages to get involved. Call 262-375-2715 for more details and to register.
