May 05   First Fridays
Reflecting Cedarburg at a cultural destination, First Fridays is presented on the first Friday of October 2016 through May 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on W62 N546 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg. Now in its third season, First Fridays continues its mission of bringing upbeat music to audiences of all ages to the CCC for an indoor music experience. This series provides an opportunity to fulfill the CCC mission by providing a gathering place for the community while providing a space to showcase emerging artists as well as established WAMI Award winning bands. In the 2016-2017 season, guests will be greeted to a singer songwriter performance at 6:00pm followed by the featured band at 7:00pm. First Fridays provides a kid's craft hour and space to hula hoop from 6:00 - 7:00pm. In addition, dinner will be available for purchase from featured food trucks. Other activities include a local handmade art show and monthly art exhibit. The lights go down and the party turns up as the headliner takes the stage and the Center's full cash bar and dance floor multiply the fun. First Fridays will showcase a variety of musical styles including Americana, Blues, Caribbean, Country, Jam, Funk, Pop, Reggae, Rock, R&B and Soul. The series is free of charge to members of the Cultural Center and children under 5. Non-member general admission is $5 at the door. This ful­ly clothed ther­a­py is per­formed on a mas­sage table or reclin­ing chair.  Stu­dents will obtain knowl­edge of the his­to­ry and the­o­ry of Reflex­ol­o­gy.  The stu­dents shall demon­strate pro­fi­cien­cy in per­form­ing a 60 min­ute foot and hand reflex­ol­o­gy rou­tine with the recip­i­ent in the supine posi­tion.  The stu­dent shall per­form the acu­pres­sure tech­niques using thumb press­es, fin­ger cir­cles, knuck­les and palm press­ing while locat­ing and work­ing the reflex points cor­re­spond­ing to all major organs, glands, parts of the body and chakras.  Stu­dents will be instruct­ed on con­traindi­ca­tions and effec­tive­ly demon­strate how to adjust the reflex­ol­o­gy accord­ing­ly.  Par­tic­i­pants shall be able to iden­ti­fy and describe the zones, reflex areas and reflex points cor­re­spond­ing to all major organs, glands and part of the body along with an under­stand­ing of anato­my and phys­i­ol­o­gy.  Par­tic­i­pants will be able to describe obser­va­tions and eval­u­a­tions of the foot.  The stu­dent shall engage in writ­ing pro­fes­sion­al S.O.A.P notes with an under­stand­ing of stan­dards of prac­tices.

This is a 2 day class from 9 a.m. — 5 p.m. The cost of this work­shop is $250. which will include a book­let on the con­cepts & tech­niques.  Each stu­dent will give and receive a foot and hand reflex­ol­o­gy as stu­dents prac­tice on one anoth­er.  You will also receive a cer­tifi­cate upon com­ple­tion of this class.

The Ozaukee County Historical Society and the 1st Allied Airborne Living History re-enactment group present WWII - "The Falaise Gap: An Army on the Run". Ozaukee County Pioneer Village will be transformed into the European countryside where the Allied Forces invade Germany.  See battles at 11:00AM, 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. There will be a special memorial exhibit honoring the 55 Ozaukee County servicemen who lost their lives in WWII. Various demonstrations of uniforms, weaponry and military vehicles will be shown. The day closes with Taps and USO-Style Swing Dance Party featuring Milwaukee's own Swing Nouveau. Food and beverages will be available throughout the day and evening.
